In 1951, an Egyptian writer moved into Hôtel La Louisiane. He would only leave in 2008, feet first, after 57 years in the same room. Albert Cossery, prince of laziness, philosopher of idleness, became the tutelary figure of the hotel - and one of the most singular authors of French literature.

The Philosophy of Laziness

Cossery wrote little - eight novels in 60 years of career. He wrote when he was truly bored, when there was really nothing better to do. The rest of the time, he read, strolled, flirted, debated at Café de Flore where he had his table.
